What is an Industrial TearOff™
An Industrial TearOff™ is a heavy-duty, multi-layered optical film engineered to protect high-value viewing surfaces—such as CNC machine viewports, blast cabinet glass, display screens, Lexan, and safety barriers. It functions as a transparent, sacrificial shield against extreme wear.
When the top surface gets pitted by flying metal swarf, clouded by caustic coolants, or dirty from heavy overspray, you don’t take machinery offline or pay for custom glass replacement. You simply grab the engineered edge tab, peel away the damaged top layer, and instantly restore 100% optical clarity in seconds.
Can an Industrial TearOff™ be used for commercial, municipal, or recreational applications?
Absolutely. In fact, our industrial background is your greatest advantage. If a TearOff™ layer is tough enough to survive high-velocity aluminum shavings, chemical coolants, and abrasive media blasting inside a manufacturing plant, it handles commercial and recreational environments with ease.

How do the rolls work? Are they sold in standard sizes?
TOP does not sell our product “by the roll”. We are a custom shop where we design, laser cut or dye cut shapes of all kinds. TearOff’s are available in 3-layer for Interior use (paint booth lighting), or with proprietary UV inhibitors for Exterior use (club sports car windshields); 4-layer pre-laminated stacks (CNC Mill windows).” Blanks” are generic measurements cut to size, typically used for heat forming to curved windshields (vehicles).
Do you offer rolls of TearOff Material?
No. Not at this time . Because of the nature of the adhesive and layers special care must be take when cutting. All tearOff Producvts are custom cut to scpecific sizes.
Do you offer custom sizes for specialized machinery?
Yes. Beyond our standard 6″ rolls, we precision digital laser-cut multi-layer sheets to match exact OEM panel dimensions, unique bevels, and complex machinery geometries for edge-to-edge protection.
What is the difference between 3-layer and 4-layer rolls?
It comes down to your plant’s maintenance cycle and thickness preferences:
3-Layer Rolls: Ideal for applications requiring a lower-profile optical stack while still providing three full cycles of surface renewal.
4-Layer Rolls: Engineered for high-impact, rapid-wear zones—such as active spray booths, high-speed blast cabinets, or heavy-traffic retail displays—maximizing the time between complete roll re-applications.
Do I have to apply each layer one by one?
No. Every stack—whether 3 or 4 layers—is pre-laminated at the factory using a proprietary optical bonding process. You install the stack onto your surface just once. As the outer layer wears down, you peel off only that single top sheet. The underlying layers remain perfectly intact, bonded, and clean.
Will stacking 3 or 4 layers make my viewing glass blurry or dark?
Not at all. Because the layers are optically bonded at the factory rather than loosely layered, air gaps and light refraction are completely eliminated. You maintain 100% optical clarity straight through the entire stack, keeping vision sharp for precision machining, automated inspection, or outdoor digital displays.
How tough is the outer surface? Won’t it scratch right away?
This is not standard window tint or commercial laminating film. The top layer features a patented hard-coat technology embedded with micro-silica beads. Originally developed and tested under rugged military conditions, this surface stands up to flying rock chips, high-velocity metal swarf, abrasive dust, and aggressive chemical coolants without instantly hazing.
What temperatures can Industrial TearOffs handle?
Industrial TearOffs are engineered to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations found on active shop floors, inside heated spray booths, and under direct outdoor UV exposure without blistering, yellowing, or losing adhesive integrity.
What surfaces can I put an Industrial TearOff on?
Any clean, flat, non-porous viewing surface. That includes standard tempered glass, safety glass, polycarbonate, Lexan, acrylic, polished stainless steel housings, and touchscreens.
How difficult is it to install?
Installation is straightforward. Thoroughly clean the target surface so it is free of grease, cutting oils, lint, and residue. Apply using standard squeegee pressure (or recommended application fluid for larger panels) to smooth out the initial stack and eliminate air pockets. Once set, the stack holds firm through intense operational vibration until you deliberately pull a tab.
When I peel a layer off, does it leave a sticky adhesive residue behind?
Zero. The multi-layer adhesive system is engineered so the adhesive stays attached to the back of the layer you are removing. The fresh layer revealed underneath is left completely clean, clear, and ready for work.
Does the film resist heavy chemical solvents and washdowns?
Yes. The silica-bead coating resists chemical etching and clouding from harsh disinfectants, industrial degreasers, paint overspray, solvents, cutting fluids, and fuel spills. If something persistent like permanent marker or spray paint lands on the surface, no scrubbing solvents are needed—you simply peel the layer away and throw the vandalism in the trash.
How long can a stack remain on a machine if a layer isn’t peeled right away?
The underlying optical adhesive is formulated for long-term stability. A multi-layer stack can remain mounted to a panel for months or even years without curing to the glass or hardening, ensuring that when you finally do need to peel a layer, it releases cleanly without tearing or leaving residue.
