But sitting directly in the line of fire comes at a steep price. Stray pitches, foul tips, and dirt clods constantly zip past the catcher’s mitt and crash into the transparent Lexan shields protecting the expensive broadcast camera apparatus.

The Problem

When a 95+ MPH baseball or sharp foul ball strikes an untreated Lexan shield, the leather seam friction and high-speed impact leave heavy scuffs, scratches, and chalk marks.
